A group of students both coming from the High School Department in DWCU were given the chance to develop their passion in journalism as they join the second day of the Division Seminar Workshop on Campus Journalism held at Lananpin Elementary School last September 6, 2018.

The events during the second day of the seminar were the Newswriting, Sportswriting, Sci-feature Writing, Radio broadcasting and TV Broadcasting with English and Filipino as the mediums.

When the students arrived at the venue, they were on time for the prayer and the singing of the National Anthem and afterwards, they looked for a place to sit for a while and wait for the lecture to start.

Even though the lecture was delayed, several students coming from other schools in Urdaneta City presented their talents to entertain their fellow journalists.

It was nearly 10:30 AM when the speaker arrived but he immediately called all the writers in Newswriting and Radio Broadcasting before he finally started his lecture.

All students were also given a lunch break and expected to come back afterwards for the writing of their outputs and proceed to the next lectures in Sports writing and Sci-feature writing.

The DWCU journalists, together with Mr. AldrinMejia as one of the School Paper Adviser, truly had a great time learning together during the seminar.

Mr. John Jheric Fernandez, the C.A.T. Moderator, presented the C.A.T. Officers and was confirmed by Fr. Roberto Ibay, SVD. After the proclamation and confirmation of the officers, the pinning of ranks followed. Parents accompanied their sons and daughter to receive the certificates of the officers. Miss Jasmine Daniella Alexis O. Montero, the Corps Commander delivered also a speech thanking the community and their parents for all the support they extended in order to achieve such a title in their lives as C.A.T. Officers. This was followed by a precise and smart fancy drill by the officers. Fr. Roberto J. Ibay, SVD, the DWCU President, said that Higher Ranks in DWCU does not mean higher privileges and higher grades, but rather higher responsibility and accountability. He added that Pinning of Ranks tells us that we are not just ordinary students but great officers and great students. And greatness in DWCU is achieved as officers when we have the 3 “S” namely SERVICE, STEWARD and knowing how to SMILE for we have been chosen by God to become leaders and officers. The Pinning of Ranks for the C.A.T. Officers ended with the singing of DWCU Hymn led by Angela Gwenn B. Sarmiento.
