The Faculty & Staff of the Elementary Dept. after the June 24, 2018 Sunday Mass

Parents, educators, guardians and pupils of the DWCU Elementary Department gathered together at the DWCU Holy Spirit Chapel last June 24, 2018 at 8:00 o’clock  in the morning.  It has been scheduled for school year 2018 – 2019 that every 4th Sunday of the month, the Elementary Department with their parents and class advisers will sponsor the regular Sunday Eucharist in DWCU.  The aim or objective of participating in the Eucharist is to be closer to Jesus and to His Word as a family and as a Divinian community.  Moreover, that activity has an objective to assist the pupils and their families to form a habit of encountering the Lord in the Church and in the Eucharist.

Indeed the pupils, parents, and educators in the Elementary Department participated actively in the reading, singing, and responses in the Eucharist.

NEW SCHOOL YEAR IN DWCU WITH THE EUCHARIST

dsc_0024.jpgDWCU opens the school year 2018 – 2019 with the mass at the St. Michael Gymnasium.  The mass started at 8:00 in the morning and sponsored by the High School Department. The Senior High School was in charge of the choir, lectors, and commentator during the liturgy. Fr. Roberto J. Ibay, SVD, the DWCU President, presided the Eucharist with SVD Priests as Concelebrants.  He reflected on the main theme “Witness to the Word Pursuing Excellence.” He emphasized the value of excellence as “a gift”, an identity, a call and mission of all the DWCU Community.  He further said that Excellence in DWCU is achieved by not only acquiring knowledge but by possessing skills, good attitudes, values and authentic education.

After the mass, birthday celebrants for the month of June was greeted by the whole community.  Indeed, DWCU community believes that starting educational activities with God delivers and performs programs and results better and more meaningful.

First DWCU General Assembly for SY 2018-2019

Last June 7–8, 2018, the Divine Word College of Urdaneta has made another momentous event as the institution face the upcoming school year. The said event was the 2-day general assembly of the administrators, faculty, and personnel. The program started with a prayer led by the Campus Minister, Fr. Venerando J. Yator, SVD. Afterward, the School President, Fr. Roberto J. Ibay, SVD gave his message as a word of gratitude for choosing and having a successful year and also pushing through an excellent school year 2018-2019. Fr. Ibay highlighted the theme dubbed as “Witness to the Word Pursuing Excellence” for all the educational activities for 2018-2019.  He said, “Excellence is our identity, call & gift to the Divine Word. Excellence is achieved by learning how to prepare ourselves, excellence is obtained by implementing our plans, working as a team, going beyond what is required from us and and learning how to respect the basics of life and education.”

Furthermore, one of the highlights of the said program is the introduction of the administrators, faculty, and personnel, most specifically for the new ones. The introduction aims to unite the administrators, faculty, and personnel as one family in order to face the new school year. First, Fr. Roberto J. Ibay, SVD introduced the Administrators of the school. Second, the Pre-school and Elementary Principal, Ms. Carolina T. Sayapen introduced its faculty followed by the introduction of the High School faculty by Mrs. Marlyn R. Laroco, High School Principal. Mrs. Joelita M. Bernabe, the Dean of the College Department introduced its Faculty and Fr. Yohannes Bala, SVD introduced the School Personnel. After the introductions, the updates from the different agencies like SSS, PhilHealth, PagIbig, DOLE and even the newly implemented Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion or the TRAIN LAW were discussed in the said program to share the information and updates most especially for the new faculty and staff of the school; and also the concerns from the different offices of the school were shared. The morning session of the first day of the program ends with the singing of the DWCU hymn.

Deputy Chief Wilma M. Dulay discussing the Child Protection Policy

On the afternoon of the program, the Deputy Chief Prosecutor of Urdaneta City and an alumnus of our own institution, Pros. Wilma M. Dulay shared her ideas and knowledge about the Child Protection Policy. The said topic was a great opportunity for the school to be more aware in all aspects as an educational institution. The first day of the general assembly ended with a closing prayer led by the College Dean, Mrs. Joelita M. Bernabe. The Second day of the General Assembly was allotted for the re-echo of the different seminars attended by the school administrators and faculty. The said program was done for the purpose of personal and professional growth of every individual inside the school. Mrs. Marlyn R. Laroco and Ms. Carolina T. Sayapen were tasked to share the learnings that they had about the School Implementing Plan. While Ms. Melanie Tabobo and Chiara Baltazar on the Mission and Education: Formation of Missionary Disciples for Educators, Formators, Religious, Superiors and Lay Leaders. While, Mrs. Grace Gonzales, Ms. Desiree Ordoñes, Mr. John Jheric Fernandez, Ms. Melanie Manuel, and Ms. Diana Manzano discussed the Social Media. The 2-day general assembly aims to promote excellence in all aspects of the institution and opens another chapter of its journey as we open the new school year 2018-2019.
