PARAYNO RETAINS PTA PRESIDENCY
Parents and Teachers Congregate in General Assembly
In a somewhat unanimous vote by fellow parents, Mr. Julio F. Parayno III kept his position as the president of the Parents-Teachers Association of Divine Word College of Urdaneta. The election which happened last June 30 at the St. Michael Gymnasium also served as the General Assembly of the PTA and was attended by the parents from students in Pre-School, Elementary, and High School Department.
Aside from Parayno, other parents have also been elected to complete the set of Executive PTA Officers for the School Year 2012-2013. It included: Mrs. Aurora S. Manzano, Vice President-Pre-School & Elementary; Dr. Fred Enrile, Vice President-High School; Mr. Reynald T. Mamasig, Secretary; Mrs. Marivic Manzano, Treasurer; Mrs. Aimee B. Ridao, Auditor-Elementary; Mrs. Louela Ramos, Auditor-High School; Mr. Neil G. Tablada, P.R.O.-Elementary; and Dr. Agnes Leored Rioflorido.
With regard to the flow of the meeting, it started with the prelude of “Welcome to the Family” and Opening Prayer that was led by Fr. Tanysun C. Sunico, SVD, DWCU Campus Minister. It was followed by the Introduction of Non-Teaching and Teaching Staff of the school which was presented by the heads of the different departments. In other matters, concerns regarding Campus Pastoral had been laid out by Fr. Tany and Mrs. Mylene dela Paz presented the Financial Report of the PTA from the previous year. To break the monotony of the event, the new teachers from the High School Department put on an unforgettable performance with their intermission number. Fr. Gil T. Manalo, SVD, the school president, had also given his piece about the general concerns that needs to be undertaken for this year. He said that “Collabaration and Coordination” is the key to reach out the goals that have to be attained especially with the K to 12 Curriculum being fully implemented. He also added that with the proper process of growing up, not only by the students but also of the DWCU community, K to 12 will result to a transformation that we have to go along in time. Fr. Gil had also aired out concerns regarding the security inside the campus and that with the implementation of the ID system for fetchers, car stickers for the service transportation, and lunch pass system, the students will somehow be more safeguarded while they are inside the premises of the campus.
During the meeting, Mr. Parayno had also given his thanks and appreciation for the efforts of PTA last school year which are evident in the improvements and helps rendered for the school. The school also showed their gratitude for all the hard work that Mr. Parayno exerted in fulfilling his duty by giving him an extraordinary plaque of appreciation with pictures of the different year levels in high school carrying a banner saying “Thank You Sir Rammy”. It just proved that words are not enough to show appreciation for Mr. Parayano’s deeds.
The assembly ended with the parents meeting up with the advisers of their children for the election of PTA Homeroom officers as well as discussing some concerns with regard to the welfare of their kids.
