CPC’s Trek to Impressive Mt. Province

THE DWCU-CPC’s

ANNUAL EVALUATION AND FUNCTION

HIGHEST POINT

May 14, 2010. 5:30 AM. The journey began. The DWCU Campus Pastoral Council was bound to hound the heights of Mt. Province.  It was a longhorned drive of six hours with a quick respite at Baguio City for a breakfast at Burnham Park.  At Cattubo, Atok, Benguet, the group took some shots on the Philippine Pali, the highest point of Philippine Highway System with an elevation of 7, 400 feet.

The view along the way was attention – getting.  We were fascinated by the

THE MOUNTAIN PROVINCE’ TRAILS

velvety mountains sculptured with terraces and decked with coniferous trees.  The chilly weather and the inspiring driving of Fr. Doms kept our spirits high as we travelled the unceasingly long and winding road of Benguet and Mountain Province. It was around 11:30 am when we reached our dwelling place, the Holy Family Parish Church Convent in Sadsadan, Bao-ko.  More than what we have expected, the accommodation was awesome.  We won’t forget the warm treatment of Fr. Bong Garay, SVD (and nephew Tom) and the sense of neighborliness of the community.

SADSADAN FALLS

The nature – appreciation activity commenced with the hiking at Sadsadan Falls.  The journey to the Falls demanded a great deal of patience and persistence but once you got there, you couldn’t help but shout for joy!

The Sumaguing Cave in Sagada is such a masterpiece. Amidst the rough darkness and sharp curves, it offers an unimaginable display of beauty.  Trekking the cave is like trekking your life – Set the goal. Strategize. Hit the mark. It is truly a mark of what is true, good and beautiful.

INSIDE SUMAGUING CAVE

The side trip at Bishop’s Palace was remarkable.  It is a haven of spiritual journey which is situated at the acropolis overlooking the panoramic town of Bontoc.

May 16, 2010.5:30 am.  All set for the journey back home.  The group, for having been inspired by the topography of Mt. Province – its lofty mountains, panoramic valleys and clammy weather, was burning with determination to carry out the so called “Sadsadan Decision” holding of Campus Pastoral Assembly to address the areas of concern of DWCU as Witness to the Word.
