WHAT LITTLE WE GAVE WENT BACK A THOUSAND FOLD
Right after the typhoon Ondoy that hit Metro Manila last September 26-27 the DWCU academic community organized at once the relief operations to help the typhoon victims down the Metropolitan. The first to bring their goods/donations were the youngest among us; the pre-school and the elementary pupils who were able to gather almost 40 boxes of donations in kind and a good amount of money for medicines. The High School Department and the College Department followed suit to complete the relief drive. Our quick disaster response to the suffering victims was facilitated by the ABS-CBN foundation who brought and distributed our help to suffering kababayans in the national capital.
We thought we have given more than what was expected from us when after a
week Super Typhoon Pepeng hit Northern Luzon not sparing Urdaneta, Pangasinan. What little we shared to the victims of Typhoon Ondoy to the NCR went back a thousand-fold that filled our St. Michael’s Gymnasium with relief goods that came as far as Visayas and Mindanao. The help that we shared was practically overshadowed and overwhelmed by the donations that came back. The first wave of donations
came from our benefactors through the office of Fr. Bel San Luis, SVD in Manila delivered by a 6X6 truck in a convoy with nine big trucks commandeered by the Philippine Navy. The goods were distributed at once to our neighbors coordinated to our baranggay captain here in Bayaoas, Urdaneta City.
