LORD…SAVE OUR PEOPLE!

HELP…

THE FLOOD VICTIMS!

The DWCU academic community in coordination with the Diocese of Urdaneta and the Immaculate Conception Cathedral Church is soliciting relief goods, in kind and in cash from the students, the PTA, faculty, non-academic employees and administrative staff for our brothers and sisters in Metro Manila who are suffering brought by the recent typhoon Ondoy. Our hearts bleed to see these pictures below of our “kababayans” – brothers and sisters who are asking, begging for our assistance.

(September 22-24)

INTRAMS 2009

INTRAMS 2009

The DWCU this academic year 2009-2010 scheduled an earlier intramural in all departments to align and synchronize with all the athletic associations around the city, division, province and regional levels that the DWCU participates. In line with the new Regional Association of Higher Education Institutions (RAHEI R-1) new events (academic and cultural contests) have been introduced and included in the College Department intrams. The vocal solo, vocal duet and dance sport competitions found easy accommodation in the schedule of events.

OATH OF SPORTSMANSHIP

OATH OF SPORTSMANSHIP

The festive sports event commenced with a colorful and jubilant parade from the quadrangle going around the speck-and-span football oval towards the magnificently impressive St. Michael’s Gymnasium. The whole campus roars into thunderous cheers and yells as the athletes, students, coaches, sports officials, teachers, administrators in all departments were marching in within the confine of the walls of this noble institution. As the marchers from the youngest to the eldest entered the gymnasium the whole area was transformed like a boxing arena where the assembling crowd was almost uncontrollable to hold on their excitement for the formal opening. It was only when Frt. John Elliote Moyo, SVD started in leading the whole community in prayer that the wailing crowd dramatically focused on the role of the Divine in blessing the occasion with His grace. The opening ceremonies then includes the following parts: the opening prayer, flag ceremony, welcome address, presentation of delegates, oath of amateurism, lighting of torch and the formal declaration of the opening of the Intramural.

THE MAGIC 5
THE MAGIC 5 FOR THE COLLEGE’ MISS INTRAMS

Immediately after the formal opening ceremonies, the College Department took hold of the Gymnasium where they held the search for Mr. & Miss Intrams 2009. The production number and presentation of the candidates with pomp and dignity introduced each contestant to the restless audience

waiting for their favorites. The contestants indeed entertained the judges as well as the people who were gathered around to witness the big event when they paraded on their casual wear, followed by the rendition of their talents, another parade on their sports wear, until the proclamation of those who made it to the magic 5. The magic 5 or the finalists then underwent some sort of a battle of the brain when the question and answer portion finally declare the most fitted to the title of MR. & MISS INTRAMS 2009.

Later in time, towards the climax of the event, the board of judges unanimously proclaimed Nika Paula Paulo, BSCS3 the reigning LAKAMBINI 2009 as Miss Intrams 2009 with Alex Tacdol, ABPhilo1 as Mr. Intrams 2009. Congratulations to all the winners… and more power next time to those who were trying their best!

Prayer to the Holy Virgin Mother of God

O dear Mother,

who reaches out to all

and brings the devotion to God in this world,

with exceeding gladness

accept these flowers

as a sign of our love

and reverent recognition of the dignity of  your being

the holy Virgin Mother of God.

Our hearts are filled with joy

as we celebrate your nativity.

For you are born to become a witness

of God’s love in this world by giving birth to His Son.

In our hearts you are always remembered.

As a young woman,

you coped well with the

extraordinary situation

(the annunciation).

You willingly listen to God

and delighted in his every message.

With an undivided heart

you willingly accept the mysterious design of his will

by saying:

“I am the handmaid of the Lord;

let it be done to me according

to your words.

As a betrothed woman, who at considerable personal risk,

courageously give free and responsible consent

to the call of God

–and did so on your own initiative.

As traveling woman

who left home in haste

to seek the companionship

of your cousin Elizabeth

who   was also amazingly filled with a new life.

As a pregnant woman inspired by the

spirit of God

to burst into prophecy

about the greatness of God

who liberated the poor.

As a mature woman

who was not defined simply by child bearing,

more profoundly by the way in which,

as a disciple, you heard the Word of God

and acted upon it.

As a courageous woman, who bore the

grief of the violent, destructive death

of your son,

not letting death

destroy you.

As a prayerful woman, again away from home

as a part of the community

of disciples of women and men, patiently wait

for the gift of the Spirit of the risen Lord.

Amen.
