First Friday Mass Opens Nutrition Month

DWCU OPENS NUTRITION MONTH CELEBRATION

This year’s theme of the nutrition month: “Wastong Nutrisyon Kailangan Lifestyle Diseases Iwasan” opened the whole month’s series of celebrations on nutrition awareness as declared by the Nutrition Act of the Philippine Government. The theme guided the celebration of the breaking of the bread and the Eucharist presided by Fr. Doms Ramos, SVD and assisted by Fr. Noel Ferrer, SVD with Fr. Servas Tethun, SVD the campus minister who prepared the liturgy and led the choir.

If last June 19, 2009 the DWCU academic community observed a triple celebration with first, the Mass to the Holy Spirit for the opening of the new school year 2009-2010; second, the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart and third the Thanksgiving Mass of Fr. Jaekel Solde, SVD; this time another triple celebration bound the whole Divinian Family together first, to open the Nutrition Month; second, the First Friday Devotion to the Sacred Heart and the third the Feast of St. Thomas the Apostle.

The whole academic community reflected on the significance of the theme for this year elaborating on “lifestyle diseases” and the message of Jesus the Divine Word to St. Thomas as well as to every Divinian: “blessed are those who did not see yet believed!” During the prayers of the faithful, the Divinian Family prayed sincerely for the universal church, the whole nation, our government leaders, our parents, relatives, friends, alumni and those who asked us to pray for them and for those whom we promised to pray for. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus grants us the petitions we lifted up during this holy sacrifice.

The triple celebration this time was sponsored by the students, faculty and administrators of the High School Department. Credits for the success of the celebration therefore go to the said department headed by the principal Mrs. Marlyn R. Laroco.
